Board of Directors: Jeffrey C. Facer, Owner & Chief Executive Officer
Jeffrey Facer is sole owner and Chief Executive Officer of Area-Wide Technologies. After a tremendously successful career in aviation insurance, Jeff opted to pursue his true love: cutting-edge network technology. Founding Area-Wide Technologies in October 1999, Jeff has guided the company to double-digit growth during each of its nine years as Champaign’s premier business technology solutions provider. The business experience he earned whilst serving as Facer Insurance Agency’s Chief Financial Officer enables Jeff to ensure each customer’s business and operational needs are addressed by the solutions Area-Wide Technologies designs, implements, and supports.
Cory Douglas is President of Area-Wide Technologies. Cory joined Area-Wide in February 2003 as a network technician; within 18 months, he was acting as his department’s supervisor and had been promoted to Director of Technical Services, a role he continues to fill for the company. In 2006, Cory was one of only three employees named to the Area-Wide Technologies Board of Directors, a promotion followed by his assumption of Vice-President and CIO duties in January 2007--then, subsequently, by his promotion to President in October 2009. Calling upon his vast technical experience, Cory is responsible for both managing Area-Wide’s largest division—-the Technical Services team—-as well for approving the scope of work for each and every project presented to Area-Wide clients.
Director of Technical Services:Chris Wingler,VMware and Disaster Recovery Specialist
Chris joined Area-Wide in November of 2005 as a network technician. After 4 years with the company Chris left to pursue a career with VMware and EMC storage products; during this time Chris became an expert in designing and building high available networks in terms of both run-time and disaster recovery. Chris has recently re-joined area-wide in 2009 and has become Director of Technical Services. Chris is responsible for managing and assisting the technical services team with day to day activities as well as designing and building high available client/server networks.
Jonathan Hagler serves as a Project Manager for Area-Wide Technologies. Starting his tenure in December of 2008 as a Network Technician, Jonathan has risen in the ranks of Area-Wide to become one of three Project Manager.
Brian Perkinson serves as a Project Manager for Area Wide Technologies. Brian joined Area Wide Technologies in May 2004 as a Network Technician and has helped Area Wide clients with personal attention. In September 2009, the Project Manager position was added to Brian's responsibilities with the company. Although technology continues to change as a tool for advancement, Brian has helped position Area Wide clients to benefit from technical solutions.
Tim Valentine is a Project Manager at Area-Wide Technologies. Tim joined the Area-Wide team in February of 2007 as a Network Engineer after over five years as an Information Technology Manager. In less than two years Tim had become a Project Manager for Area-Wide. With over 10 years in the IT industry and various Industry Certifications Tim has a tremendous amount of real world experience providing solutions and troubleshooting issues. Andrew Cain joined Area-Wide in 2009 specializing in home technology including virus removal, troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades. He later transferred to business services where he currently serves under his project manager Jonathan Hagler. Leveraging his past experience in retail sales and tech support, Andrew's strengths include customer service, troubleshooting, and implementation. Andrew is A+ certified and specializes in VMware applications and implementation.

Jake Hickenbottom is a 2006 Graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Communication Studies. He majored in Corporate Communication and Broadcast News with a Minor in Public Relations. Jake moved to the Champaign Area to pursue his personal interests of the Information Technology field. In August of 2009 Jake was selected to work on the technical design team of the ABC TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition Philo Illinois production. His cutting edge computer designs were featured on national television that aired late October 2009. In November 2009 Jake’s personal interest of custom computer design led his local group of designers and enthusiast to be sponsored by CPU magazine for 5 consecutive months. Gene Heitman is Area-Wide’s Director of Purchasing. A graduate of the University of Missouri, Gene joined Area-Wide Technologies in June 2004. His unrivaled knowledge of the industry’s most innovative hardware and software solutions have driven Area-Wide’s merchandise sales to double-digit growth each year Gene has been with the company. Furthermore, Gene has developed a signature line of Area-Wide Technologies servers, workstations, and notebooks to provide the company’s growing client base with an affordable, powerful alternative to big-box systems manufacturers.
Terri Facer is Area-Wide Technologies’ Chief Financial Officer. After a distinguished career of nearly 20 years as the manager of a local law firm, Terri joined Area-Wide to focus solely on the important relationship between the company and its rapidly growing number of customers. With pioneering ideas such as electronic invoicing and annual monthly maintenance contracts, Terri has provide customers with a wealth of choices from which to choose when remitting payment for Area-Wide’s services.
